How To
Plants for the Garden Pond
Aquatic Plants should go in the pond BEFORE you get your fish. You should try and have them in the pond for about a month in order that they can help adjust the water quality for your intended fish. At the end of this period, it is necessary to test the water quality by using one of the popular Test Kits for Ponds obtainable from your local Aquatic Centre. Do NOT buy the kits marketed for Aquarium Use.
Plants for the Garden Pond need to be chosen carefully.
In addition, nearby garden plants need to be acurately identified to ensure that they do not accidentally pollute the garden pond, and contribute to poisoning and sometimes killing your new fish.
In May 2009 we plan to provide a list of plants we suggest you avoid planting next or nearby your pond
